Breville 54mm Bottomless Portafilter (Blackwood)

The bottomless Portafilter from HyperGrind is excellent and has made a significant difference in my espresso! Highly recommended for anyone who wants to improve the taste, texture & quality of their coffee.

I contacted the support team to see if this portafilter would fit my Breville Infuser BES840BSXL, the response was very quick and precise. When I received the portafilter at my place, no fitment surprises and the quality was great!

This Hypergrind 54mm bottomless portafilter with the blackwood handle is an absolute game-changer for my Breville espresso machine. The build quality is superb – it feels solid and well-crafted in hand, and the blackwood handle adds a touch of elegance and a comfortable grip.

More importantly, the bottomless design has significantly improved my espresso quality. I can now clearly see any channeling issues, allowing me to fine-tune my tamping and grind for a more even and delicious extraction. The difference in clarity and flavor in my shots is remarkable.

Installation was a breeze, fitting my Breville perfectly. Cleaning is also much easier without the spouts.

Completely changed the experience of making coffee at home. Took a few days to tune dosing and grind but now we literally don't hanker after a cafe-level coffee. Much easier to tamp a level puck and the flow is much more consistent with a nice layer of crema. Different brands and roasts of coffee beans now taste different too. Best 6 coffees worth of dollarinos I've spent on coffee.

The beautiful blackwood portafilter is a fantastic accompaniment to our Breville coffee machine. Great quality and craftsmanship. And now we can quickly switch between single and double espresso shots easily.

Ordered Blackwood. Received Rosewood. Doesn't really matter. I can distinguished between 2 of the portfilters. Its does pour better and creamy

There were two standout features that have lingered with me after ordering this product. Firstly, I ordered the product from the New Zealand website, where it was claimed that the product was "in-store", and I paid for express delivery in time for my son's birthday, for whom it was intended as a gift. Only after ordering I found out it was not in the Auckland store as suggested, but was only to be found in Australia, and "express" meant the time that it takes a reasonably able child to swim across the Tasman.

The second feature was that the "Blackwood" product, pictured as the name would suggest- namely a "black wood", turned out to be as black as an ABBA tribute band.

It is a shame that those two features are memorable, as the actual portafilter is a lovely product - elegant, beautifully crafted, and with a pleasing heft. Although sadly, my son has now damaged his hand punching his coffee machine in frustration that he can no longer make a brew that doesn't taste like the effluent from an aluminium smelter.

I’ve not used as yet but when I unboxed my goodies you could see the outstanding quality.
It feels great to handle. I’m sure the quality will shine through.

Don’t get me wrong, it works well, looks great but when we tap out the used coffee grounds the handle keeps coming loose and when we tighten it it doesn’t lock tight enough?

Great experience dealing with the Hypergrind team. I recently purchased a Solis Barista Perfetta Plus and although it is a 54mm group head I wanted to be sure a new bottomless portafilter would work.
Right from the start the team were upfront and said they hadn't tried one, but did promise a refund if it didn't work. Well it did and in conjunction with the Precision Coffee Basket (Gold) within 2 attempts I had espresso shots coming out like a pro!.

A brilliant upgrade to the standard Breville portafilter. I love seeing the shot from underneath and adjusting accordingly. The morning coffee has moved to another level

Bought the bottomless porta filter and precision basket for my breville barista pro. Way better quality than the stock breville one. Also bought the tamper and levelling tool kit. Im not a coffee fan, but my wife and son are and can taste the difference in a stronger better flavoured brew. Easier to clean, and the waste grinds are really dry, therefor easier to dump out into the box. Recommended.

This portafilter completely elevated my daily coffees. I didn’t realise what a difference in quality switching from the stock Breville portafilter to a naked one would make. My coffees taste bolder and silkier and the crema has improved significantly. The portafilter is well crafted and feels much nicer to handle as it is weightier than the stock one provided by Breville. 100% recommend.
